Attendance

🌟 The Importance of Attendance

At Rectory CE Primary School, we believe that every school day counts. Our minimum attendance aim is 96%, and we work closely with families to help every child reach it.

Why Attendance Matters

  • Consistency builds confidence: Children thrive on routine. Being in school every day helps them feel secure and ready to learn.

  • Learning happens daily: Each lesson builds on the last. Missing even one day can make it harder to keep up and feel part of the class.

  • Friendships grow through shared experiences: Attending regularly helps children build strong relationships and feel part of the school community.

  • Support is always available: Our staff are trained to meet the sensory and emotional needs of every child. Being in school means they can access the full range of support we offer.

What You Can Do

  • Aim for 100% attendance whenever possible

  • Schedule appointments outside of school hours

  • Let us know if your child is struggling—we’re here to help

If you’re facing challenges with attendance, please don’t hesitate to speak to someone in school. We can work together to find solutions that support your child’s needs.

Holidays During Term Time

At Rectory, we strongly encourage families to avoid booking holidays during term time. Every school day plays a vital role in your child’s learning, development, and routine. Time away from school can disrupt progress and make it more difficult for children to stay engaged with their peers and classroom activities.

In line with national guidance, holidays during term time are not authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. If you are considering a request for leave, please speak to Mrs Gardner before making any arrangements and ensure the necessary paperwork is completed.

Who to Speak To

  • Mrs Gardner is our Attendance Lead and your first point of contact for any attendance-related concerns or support.

  • Our Local Authority Education Welfare Officer, Lorna Bailey, also works closely with us to support families and promote good attendance.

Together, we can make every day count.
