At The Orchard, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a cornerstone of our nurturing and inclusive environment. We understand that behaviour is a form of communication, and we are committed to supporting every child with compassion, consistency, and care.

What is PBS?

PBS is a proactive, person-centred approach that helps us understand the reasons behind behaviours and develop strategies that promote wellbeing, independence, and positive relationships. It’s not about managing behaviour—it’s about supporting children to flourish.

Our PBS Principles

We use PBS to:

  • 🌟 Create predictable routines and safe spaces

  • 🧠 Understand each child’s unique needs, triggers, and strengths

  • 💬 Teach communication and emotional regulation skills

  • 🤝 Foster respect, empathy, and inclusion across our school

  • 🛠️ Develop personalised support plans with input from families and professionals

Our staff are trained in PBS and work collaboratively to ensure that every child receives consistent, thoughtful support throughout their day.

Celebrating Growth

At The Orchard, we celebrate every step forward. Whether it’s a moment of calm, a kind gesture, or a new skill learned, we use positive reinforcement tailored to each child—helping them feel proud, confident, and motivated.
